What is the Football Index Media Buzz?

The Media Buzz system sits at the heart of the Football INDEX and plays a significant part in determining a player's value. Each day the current top 200 (from season 19/20 onwards Media Rankings will be open to every player on the Index) players accumulate points for articles associated with them from a number of news sources.

At midnight, the player with the most points wins the Buzz. Traders who own futures in the winner are then awarded a dividend payout for every future they own in that player. This ranges from 2p per future owned on match days to bumper Triple Media payouts on offer for the top 3 players on non-match days.

With Media Buzz winners every day of the year, it's easy to see why Buzz magnets are often amongst the highest priced players to buy. Using this system means that even without any matches being played, Football INDEX can still deliver daily dividend winners.

Below is a handy guide to the current Football INDEX Dividend rules including when you need to hold shares in players to be eligible to win dividends.
