Two months is a long time in football, none more so than at Manchester United who are undoubtedly the biggest club on Football Index.  So we thought it was about time we revisited Old Trafford to look at their updated situation regarding potential incoming transfers.

With reported transfer targets changing on a near daily basis, we analyse where prices may have reached their upper limit but more importantly prices that have room for growth on the back of more persistent rumours. Front players Antoine Griezmann, James Rodriguez and Ivan Perisic have already notched buzz wins as well as significant price rises on the back of links to United and the summer speculation has barely begun! As we all know, one name stands out amongst all others so there seems only one place to start with Atletico Madrid forward Antoine Griezmann.

Latest reports suggest he has handed in a transfer request at the Vicente Calderon. And with United in a position to pay his buyout clause, you would be a brave man to bet against the Frenchman playing his football at the Theatre of Dreams next season. With the transfer seemingly all but signed and delivered, Griezmann has seen a meteoric price rise on the Football Index – rising nearly £3 per future in just over a week! With 3 buzz wins already amassed, many predict his rise to continue should he sign and take over as the undisputed new King of the Index.

Another player who has seen his links to Manchester have a huge positive effect on his Index price is Inter Milan wide player Ivan Perisic. With Inter supposedly in a position where they need to sell to remain in touch with financial fair play, Old Trafford has established itself as the Croatians most likely destination.  With both Perisic and Inter reported to prefer a deal with United, Chelsea's late interest in the midfielder seems to be trivial – however it doesn’t take much to persuade a player to change their mind as we have seen in the past.

Either way a move to the Premier League to either club will benefit those who got in early with Perisic available at less than a pound only a few days ago. His price has since doubled and settled around £2.10 giving some investors more than 100% return on their cash in minimal time. Moving forward however, our view is that Perisic may have reached his peak – with other attacking midfielders at the Red Devils commanding a similar price to what Perisic is now. Namely Anthony Martial around at £1.75, Henrikh Mkhitaryan around £2.25 and Juan Mata at £1.35.

Although the boat may have been missed on this one it shows the power of any substantial rumour linking a player to Old Trafford. Both Griezzman and Perisic have already had significant price increases thanks to their more concrete rumours but now let’s take a look at those somewhat on the periphery. With more tentative links to the red side of Manchester, these are players that have the potential to explode.

An exciting talent that United tried to poach last summer but were beaten to the punch by German giants Bayern Munich. If rumours are to be believed, Renato Sanches has become frustrated at his lack of playing time at the Allianz Arena. Indeed, some reports even suggest he has requested a transfer. After United's well documented interest last summer it makes sense to assume they would still hold a desire in taking the Portuguese if he was to become available.

Currently priced just over the £1 mark on the Football Index, Sanches could be a shrewd purchase and we could expect him to comfortably settle at over £2 in similar vein to Perisic should the transfer look likelier.

Next up is one of Monaco’s many star performers in their title winning season just gone, full back/defensive midfielder Fabinho. Reports suggest he may switch to Old Trafford sooner rather than later in a move that would further break up the exciting Monaco side following Bernardo Silva's move to the blue side of Manchester. Jose Mourinho is known to be an admirer of the Brazilian as he looks to move swiftly in preparing the reds for Champions League football next year.

In terms of the Football Index Fabinho is currently available at around about £1.20 –should the reports become more substantial there’s no reason he cannot hit heights of around £1.80. However, being a defensive minded player, investors should be aware that once he signs on the dotted line a routine ‘dump’ of Fabinho futures will likely follow – be sure not to get caught out!

Further names that have been mentioned, and with a few twists and turns could become a reality include Chelsea midfielder Willian. Currently available at around £1.17 and with potential heights of well over £2 could be worth an educated gamble. Although he has publically committed to Chelsea let's not forget when he had all but signed for Spurs!

Vincent Lindelof at £0.90 and Micheal Keane at £1.40 are reported to be Mourinho’s first choices as he looks to boost their central defensive area. However we must suggest that once signed these prices may drop significantly. Of the two Lindelof looks as though he has the most growing room should a transfer be concluded.
