Football Index promised a big announcement and they certainly delivered on the evening of Friday 18 October!
Starting from 1 November 2019, we'll see an overall average increase in dividends paid out daily of a whopping 57%, with the new highest payout being a huge 8p for the top performing players on the newly christened 'Gold' days. That's almost back at pre-share split levels!
Let's run down the full list of changes and updates as there are a number of other details that traders may have missed or skipped over during the excitement.
Of course the main talking point is the 57% overall increase in dividends. These include Media dividends being increased to 5p, 3p, 1p on 'Media Days' with an increase of a penny to 3p on match days.
For Match Days, we see a gradual increase - with an overall 2p on 'Bronze Days', an overall 6p on 'Silver Days' and a quite frankly monster 16p overall increase on 'Gold Days'. This includes 8p for all positions - including star player.
That brings us on to our first smaller detail that may have gone slightly unnoticed - on all match days, Star Player now receive the same dividend reward as each positional winner. This means that star player on a gold match day will now deliver a mighty 16p dividend per share owned. Incredible!
The other detail you'll no doubt have picked up on by now is the name changes to all day types. No longer will they be referred to as Single, Double and Triple, but instead now be known as Bronze, Silver and Gold Match Days. Whilst only a cosmetic change, we have to say it's a smart one as they make much more sense to new users. We also lose the 'Triple' from Media Days, which again simplifies things.
Finally, traders will now have an extra hour to prepare their portfolios in order to be eligible for that day's dividends. The increase pushes the deadline to 15:00 London Time, which again is a smart move as it allows traders to see team line ups for the majority of Saturday matches.
Football Index have created a handy new dividend table graphic which you can find below. We will of course also be updating our own reference guides to show the new information. Remember, the new dividend system will come into effect on 1 November 2019, so not long to wait!
